Dear parents and carers,

What a brilliant way to end the term! We have had the most wonderful day of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) throughout the school, as we have all worked together using some very sophisticated forensic science to find out who made the mess in the Music Room! A huge thank you to Mrs Jackson and our fabulous STEM Ambassadors for their incredible work in organising the day for everybody.

As we head into our final term of the year (how is that possible?), I know that there are a lot of dates and events filling up everybody's diaries - but I must put out a plea for one event in particular.

The Summer Fayre, which is being held on the 12th July at 2pm is in danger of being cancelled.

This is, by far, the biggest fundraising event in the school calendar - and budgets have yet again been squeezed in schools this year, so that we are again in a position where we have to rely on the generosity of parents - with their time and donations - to continue to provide what we do.

The PTFA are in desperate need of more help on the day of the Fayre, and are asking all parents to consider giving just 30 minutes to help run a stall on Friday 12th July. We know this can be logistically difficult when you have your own child to look after at the same time, but perhaps parents could come together to  'tag-team' children with a friend, or ask relatives to support you by looking after your children that afternoon.

If you are not available on the day, please consider sourcing some raffle prizes or offering to bake for the cake stall.

In addition to this, we are having two additional non-uniform days in exchange for donations:

  • 21st June - please bring in small toys, wrapped sweets, unused stationary, etc to make 'goody bags'.
  • 28th June - bottles for the tombola. This doesn't have to be alcohol, can be soft drinks, toiletries, etc.

We are an incredibly caring and supportive community - thank you for all that you do, and please get in touch with the PTFA if you can offer even a little bit of time on the 12th to make sure that the Summer Fayre can run this year.

Have a wonderful half term, and we will see you on Monday, 3rd June.

Other news:

I am absolutely delighted to say that thanks to Mrs John and the lovely environment she has created in Extended Day Club, the uptake has grown, and we are able to commit to continuing the provision, both before and after school for the next academic year.

As part of our Burps, Bottoms and Bile unit we are learning about the digestive system. We started by looking at our teeth.  We have been investigating how different drinks affect our teeth.  We put some eggs (the shell of an egg is similar to the enamel on our teeth) in to coffee, vinegar...
